Wales
VS Iran
Iran scored two goals in stoppage time to claim a stunning 2-0 victory over 10-man Wales at the World Cup on Friday. Roozbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian scored in the 98th minute and 101th minute respectively to hand Carlos Queiroz's Iran a real chance of qualifying for their first World Cup knockout stages, leaving Wales with it all to do to make the next round. Rob Page's Wales struggled to find any rhythm throughout the game and they faced an uphill task when Wayne Hennessey was sent off late on, before Iran made them pay. Iran have three points after two games ahead of their clash against United States next week, while Wales remain on one point.
Qatar
VS Senegal
After getting defeated by Senegal, Qatar now is
eliminated from the FIFA World cup 2022 and Netherland’s draw against Ecuador
was the final nail in the coffin. Qatar now are statistically the worst World
Cup hosts ever in terms of game play as they are the quickest host ever to get
eliminated from the tournament.
Substitute Mohammed Muntari scored Qatar’s first ever
world cup goal but that was just not enough and in the end was just a
consolation. Boulaye Dia was the first goal scorer for Senegal in the 41st
minute and and Famara Diedhiou made it 2-0 for Senegal in the 48th
minute. Muntari reduced the gap in the 78th min but to give the fans
some hope but it lasted for just 6 minutes as Bamba Dieng restored the 2 goal
lead in the 84th minute.
Netherlands
VS Ecuador
Netherlands and Ecuador fought to a 1-1 draw at the
Khalifa international stadium in Doha, Qatar. The Dutch extended
their group stage unbeaten run at the World Cup to 16 games. They haven't lost
in nine straight World Cup matches against South American sides. On the other
side, Ecuador continued its winless streak against European sides in its last
five World Cup games, scoring just twice across those five matches.
ENGLAND
VS USA
England were held to a goalless by the USA in their
second game at the World Cup.The Three Lions were bought back down to earth
after their 6-2 win over Iran just days ago as Gareth Southgate watched his
side create very little as their forward players failed to fire as they had
done. Harry Kane was starved of service as the Americans continued to grow, and
were certainly the better team for large parts of the game. They looked the
team most likely to pick up the three points with Christian Pulisic's
first-half effort, which cannoned off the bar, the closest any team came.England
are now close to qualifying for the knockout stages after picking up another
point, but their display left lot to be desired with criticism set to come
their way before they take on Wales.
UPCOMING
MATCH PREVIEW (4 MATCHES)
Tunisia
VS Australia
Tunisia and Australia will tussle in the second match day
of Group D in their hunt for first win of the FIFA World Cup 2022. Both teams
showcased spirited show in their first matches as Australia nearly surprised
France and Tunisia drew against Denmark. Tunisia in particular were really
impressive and would now want to get a win on the table to make their case
strong for the next round. Australia also are not much behind Tunisia and can
give them a tough challenge. In the last match, they gave France an early
scare. This contest is really even on paper but Tunisia might go into this
match with a better mental boost after their heroics against Denmark.
POLAND
VS SAUDI ARABIA
The Group C of the 2022 World Cup felt predictable and
pretty obvious at first. Argentina seemed as the strongest team whereas Saudi
Arabia were the weakest team. However, the Arabs took their fate into their
hands and beat Argentina 2-1. The Saudi Arabia defenders completely frustrated
the Argentina players. They also played the offside trap perfectly, outsmarting
the Argentinians many times.
On the other hand Poland faced Mexico in their previous
game and managed to get a penalty but for saving the goal as well as the match,
Ochoa was there who saved the penalty with a full stretch to stun Poland and
show the World why he is playing his 5th world cup, only the 1st
Mexican and 8th in the world to do so.
FRANCE
VS DENMARK
France will take on Denmark at Stadium 974 on Saturday in
the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2022.Their 4-1 win was aided by a
record-equalling brace from Olivier Giroud, now the joint-top scorer in
France’s history. Mbappe and Midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
Denmark started their world cup campaign against a high
spirited Tunisia which resulted in a draw but Denmark would be very confident
going against the French as they took home a convincing 2-0 win over a strong
French side in the UEFA nations league on 25th September earlier this
year at the Parken Stadium, Copenhagen.
Argentina
VS Mexico
The stage is set for the clash between two footballing giants, Argentina and Mexico in the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. They both are drawn in Group C and will be looking to register their first win at this world cup. They first met in FIFA World cup 1930, when Argentina beat Mexico by 6 goals to 3. Since then, they were only drawn twice against each other in world cup (2006 and 2010) with Argentina winning all of them. They will face each other in Qatar, which will be their 4th match in the World Cup.
Mexican would be hoping to win the match after their draw against Poland. Argentina, on the other hand, would be with immense pressure of winning after losing their first game to Saudi Arabia, since they are considered favourites to win this tournament.
Will Argentina would be able to do what they are expected
or will it go Mexico’s way, world will witness it all. Stay tuned with me for
all the upcoming updates. Bye for now. Thanks for reading
